More than one person per device

Two people who use one computer at home can each keep their own Cofre Ink in the same browser. Each person has a profile, with a name, a personal space and records of their own, and you switch between profiles from the space menu. This exists in browser mode, the default at app.cofre.ink, where the data lives in the browser.

Where to find it

Open the space menu, the button with the name of the space at the top of the screen. Its lower part is about who is using Cofre Ink:

1. A line that reads You are followed by the name of the profile in use.
2. Change my name.
3. Come in as followed by a name, once for each other profile in this browser.
4. Add somebody else on this device.

Change your name

The first screen asks nothing, so your profile starts with the name You (Você if the interface was in Portuguese). The name shows up on splits and next to what is yours.

1. Open the space menu and choose Change my name.
2. Write your name in What you are called.
3. Press Save.

Add another person

1. Open the space menu and choose Add somebody else on this device.
2. The form Let us open your Cofre Ink appears. Fill in What you are called, the only field that is required.
3. Email is optional. If you fill it in, it has to be different from the email of every other profile in this browser.
4. Leave Currency on BRL.
5. Name of your personal space can stay empty. The space is then called Personal.
6. Start with demonstration data comes ticked. Untick it if the new person should start with an empty space.
7. Press Start.

Cofre Ink opens in the personal space of the new person. Your own profile now waits in the menu, under Come in as.

Switch to another person

1. Open the space menu.
2. Choose Come in as followed by the name of the person.

Cofre Ink reopens with that person’s spaces, starting with their personal space. The space you had open is not kept, because the other person has spaces of their own. Reloading the page keeps whoever was using it last.

Good to know

1. Profiles exist only in browser mode. On a Cofre Ink server of your own, each person signs in with their own email and password, and the space menu shows Sign out in place of these options (see Install with Docker).
2. There is no password between profiles. Anyone who uses this browser can choose Come in as and read the records of another profile. Profiles keep things apart; they do not lock them. If that matters to you, use a server, where each person has an account.
3. The form that adds a person has no button to go back, and reloading the page brings it back. Fill it in to get past it; your own profile is then under Come in as.
4. Profiles in the same browser do not share spaces. A shared space made by one person does not show for the other, and inviting someone into a space needs a server (see Members and invitations).
5. A single profile cannot be removed. Erase the data on its personal space empties that space, and the profile stays.

Erasing everything takes every profile

All the profiles of this browser live in the same database. Erase everything, in the Danger zone of the Data screen, erases that whole database, so it removes every profile in this browser, not only yours. See Erasing data.
